Turaida Castle in Sigulda
Turaida Museum Reserve is located 50 km (31 miles) north-east of Riga, on the right bank of the picturesque Gauja River. It covers an area of 41 hectares, with 37 historical buildings and structures situated in the area. The Forum of European Museums in Barcelona awarded Turaida Museum Reserve a special diploma of recognition for achievement and a winner sign, which is presented annually to the top 10 museums in Europe. According to statistics, it is visited by about 170 thousand tourists per year. Turaida Castle is one of the most popular historical museum complexes in Latvia.
Gutmanis Cave
The legendary Gutman Cave is considered the largest on the territory of the Baltic countries. It is 18 meters deep, 10 meters high and 12 meters wide. The total area of the cave is 170 square meters. There's a stream of spring water flowing through the inside of the cave. On the walls in the cave is adorned by inscriptions dating back to few hundred years ago. According to legend, there was a tragic story about a beautiful girl named Maija, who died between the cold stones.
Kropotkin Manor
In XVII century, a manor house was formed in the territory of Sigulda castle. To this day, some of the buildings from XVIII and XIX century have remained. From the days of the hosts von der Borch and Kropotkin – Summer Castle, New Castle, White Castle, the house steward, house for servants, barn, laundry, cellar for storage of root crops and vegetables – are all still standing.
Wine tasting in the country house
We invite you to visit the countryside winery and taste the wines. A unique opportunity to not only indulge yourself with the wonderful aromatic wines from a variety of flowers and berries but also unearth the winemakers' secrets of brewing homemade wine and producing about 15 different varieties of house wine. During the tasting, you can try 4 kinds of wine, as well as choose the one you've like the most and buy it.
