This time, we are going to Riga for the Festival of Lights.
Light festival “Staro R?ga” will be held for the ninth time. It is planned to run from 17 to 20 November – time when the Latvian Independence Day is celebrated. The festival continues the tradition to enhance light and the joyful sense of community on the birthday of Latvia by lighting up Riga streets, squares, buildings, parks and squares.
Organizers promise particularly spectacular shows this year as well as the Republic of Latvia’s 98th Independence Day celebrations.

Turaida castle in Sigulda
Turaida museum Reserve is located 50 km north-east of Riga, on the right bank of the picturesque Gauja River. It covers an area of 41 hectares, where are located 37 historic buildings and structures. The Forum of European museums in Barcelona awarded Turaida Museum Reserve with a special diploma of recognition for achievement and a sign of the winner, which is presented annually to the top 10 museums in Europe. According to statistics, it is visited by about 170 thousand tourists per year. Turaida Castle, one of the most popular historical museum complexes in Latvia.
Gutmanis cave
Legendary Gutman cave is considered the largest in the territory of Baltic countries. It is 18 meters deep, 10 meters high and 12 meters wide. The total area of the cave is 170 square meters.Inside the cave flows spring water. One the walls of caves are some inscriptions that are made few hundred years ago. According to legend, there was a tragic story, where a beautiful girl named Maija had died, between the cold stones.
Kropotkin palace
In XVII century, a manor house was formed ,in the territory of Sigulda castle. To these days, some buildings have remained from XVIII and XIX century, from the days of the hosts von der Borch and Kropotkin, such as - Summer Castle , New Castle , White Castle , the house steward , house for servants , barn , laundry , cellar for storage of root crops and vegetables .
Wine tasting in the country house
